Ms. Katie Renze-Beer became the proud principal of Edward Best Elementary School in May 2022 after serving as the assistant principal for 6 years prior. Ms. Renze-Beer is originally from Pennsylvania, where she earned her bachelors and master degrees from the University of Pittsburgh. She served as a middle and high school English teacher before becoming a literacy coach for a K-8 school in urban Pittsburgh. In 2016, Ms. Renze-Beer moved to the Raleigh area to begin her administration career with Franklin County Schools.

When not serving the Edward Best community, Ms. Renze-Beer can be found chasing after her three boys or bouncing between sports practices with her husband, Ryan.

Michele Hunt is the Assistant Principal at Edward Best Elementary School. Before joining the Edward Best family, she served in a variety of educational roles spanning 30 years. A few of the roles she has held include classroom teacher, Reading Interventionist, Literacy Coach, and Instructional Facilitator. Mrs. Hunt received her Bachelors in Early Childhood Education from the University of Georgia and her Master of Arts in Elementary Education from Piedmont University. She also holds a K-12 Reading Specialist certification and a K-12 School Administration certification.

Mrs. Hunt was born and raised in Athens, Georgia and moved to Raleigh, NC in 2009. She is a mother of 2 grown children, one of which followed in her footsteps and is a Special Education teacher in Wake County. She is committed to providing the students at EBES the most engaging, high-quality education possible. She is proud to be an EBES Panther and loves being a part of the community it serves.
