First Grade

Ms. Brewer is a first grade teacher at Edward Best Elementary School. She is beginning her 10th year teaching, but her first year with Franklin County Schools. She has taught first, fourth and fifth grades. Outside of school, Ms. Brewer enjoys spending time with family and friends, visits to the beach, curling up with a good book, gardening as well as cuddling with her two dogs, Bentley and Ollie.

Mrs. Lavore was born and raised in upstate New York, where she played college basketball and majored in Elementary Education at SUNY Oneonta. She went onto earn her Masters' degree from Walden University in Elementary Reading and Math. Her and her husband moved their family to North Carolina in 2022 and have enjoyed the weather North Carolina has to offer. When Mrs. Lavore isn't teaching, she enjoys spending time with her family and traveling to see their family back in New York.

Mrs. Murphy is starting her 16th year of teaching. She has taught Kindergarten and First Grade, and has a passion for teaching young children. She is National Board Certified and is the 2025-2026 Teacher of the Year at EBES. Mrs. Murphy enjoys spending time with her husband and three kids. She is excited to be co-teaching this year with Mrs. Lavore! She looks forward to a great year!

Adriane Shimfessel is a first grade teacher at Edward Best Elementary School. She has taught Pre-K, Kindergarten, and First grade. She is married and her husband also work for Franklin Count Schools, at Bunn High. She has 2 wonderful daughters and loves teaching in Franklin County!

Mrs. Warren is from Wake Forest, North Carolina originally. After graduating from Barton College, she moved to Louisburg where she began her teaching career at Edward Best Elementary. This is her 9th year at Edward Best and all of those years have been in 1st grade! Mrs. Warren was named Edward Best Elementary's Teacher of the Year during the 2022-2023 school year!
