School Plan for Shared Student Achievement

What is it?

Edward Best actively seeks to make the Parent and Family Engagement Plan readily available to all students and families throughout the school year. The plan is posted on the school website where it is available for all stakeholders. FCS also has a district policy that is posted on our FCS website. The home-school compact is sent home with students at the beginning of each school year. The PFE policy is also available during each Open House and scheduled parent meetings. It is also available upon request.

Edward Best Elementary is a school-wide Title I School so all students are encouraged to fully participate in school opportunities that are described in this plan. The school will attempt to provide necessary accommodations to allow for opportunities from all families in regard to the Parent and Family Engagement Policy, school-parent compact, and the school/family engagement budget.

Our School will host the following events to build capacity for strong parental involvement. Our goal is to support a partnership among the school, parents, and the community to improve student academic achievement.

DATE: 8/22/2024 TIME: 4:00-6:00 LOCATION: EBES	OPEN HOUSE Parents and students will meet the teacher, visit their classrooms, and receive information about transportation, PTA, technology, school procedures, etc.
DATE: 10/16/2024 TIME: 5:00 LOCATION: EBES	FALL FEST: TITLE 1 NIGHT/PTA MEETING Families will be given information on Title 1 funding and PTA plans. Students are invited to join for light refreshments, fall-themed crafts, a cake walk, and a trip through the infamous Haunted Hallway.
DATE: 12/19/2024 TIME: 5:00 LOCATION: EBES	WINTER FEST Families will gather to celebrate the holiday season! The night will begin with a chorus concert, followed by food, crafts, a holiday shop, pictures with Santa, and our holiday sing-a-long.
DATE: 4/24/25 TIME: 5:00 LOCATION: EBES	SCIENCE FAIR Students will create their own science experiments and present their findings to parents, judges, and their peers.
DATE: 4/24/25 TIME: 5:00 LOCATION: EBES	EOY/EOG Carnival Teachers will provide parents with important end-of-the-year information to prepare students for End of Grade testing and summer learning opportunities.

Strategic Plan 2020-2025

This guiding document, Blueprint 2025, is provided as a high-level overview of the district’s plan. In addition, we have provided a breakdown of strategies by goal.

Due to the significant and ongoing impact of COVID-19, designation of benchmarked measurable outcomes for each year is difficult to establish at this time. The district will use the 2021 spring assessment results as a baseline for yearly targets based upon each goal.

Parent and Family Engagement School Goals

Edward Best Elementary will take the following measures to promote and support parents as an important foundation of the school in order to strengthen the school and reach our school goals:

Teachers will provide progress reports to parents that focus on academic progress and behavior.
Teachers will continue communication to all parents through phone calls, emails, etc with evidence through a parent contact log.
Newsletters and parent information will be translated for ESL families.
Parent Surveys giving feedback about the school year.
Hold Title 1 Night and other school events that focus on community involvement
